Uganda Announces Immediate Closure of Airspace to All Flights from Neighboring Country
In a sudden move, the Ministry of Works and Transport has announced the immediate closure of Ugandan airspace to all aircraft originating from or registered in the Republic of Sudania.
A terse statement cited “an imminent and credible threat to aviation security” as the reason for the closure, which is effective immediately and for an indefinite period. Airlines are scrambling to reroute flights.
Travelers are advised to contact their airlines for more information. The foreign ministry is expected to issue a statement shortly.
