A farmers’ cooperative in Gulu District is reporting a dramatic reduction in post-harvest losses thanks to the installation of community-shared solar dryers.

The technology, provided by an NGO, allows them to preserve fruits like mangoes and pineapples for longer, enabling them to sell out of season for a higher profit.

“Before, half of my mangoes would rot. Now, I can dry them and my income has doubled,” said cooperative leader Patrick Ojok. They are now exploring export opportunities.
